BLACKTHORN HALLOWEEN GIVEAWAY — OFFICIAL RULES

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE, PAYMENT, OR NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIPTION IS NOT REQUIRED TO ENTER OR WIN AND WILL NOT INCREASE THE ODDS OF WINNING.

SPONSOR AND PROMOTION PERIOD
The Blackthorn Halloween Giveaway is sponsored by Briar Gate Press (“Sponsor”), amy@briargatepress.com. The giveaway begins September 25, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time and ends October 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (“Promotion Period”). Sponsor’s records are the official timekeeping method.

ELIGIBILITY

Open only to legal residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen years old at the time of entry. Employees, contractors, and representatives of Sponsor, and members of their immediate households, are not eligible. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

HOW TO ENTER

  1. There are two free entry methods:

Circular entry: During the Promotion Period, submit a valid email address through The Briar Gate Circular subscription form at briargatepress.com and provide the requested consent to receive the newsletter. Anyone who is already an active Circular subscriber when the Promotion Period begins will automatically receive one entry and does not need to subscribe again. Unsubscribing after a valid entry is received will not invalidate that entry.

  3. Free alternate entry: Email amy@briargatepress.com with the subject line “Blackthorn Halloween Giveaway Entry.” Include your full name, email address, state of residence, and the statement, “I confirm that I am at least 18 years old and agree to the Official Rules.” The email must be received during the Promotion Period. This method does not subscribe the entrant to marketing email.

  4. Limit one entry per person, regardless of entry method. Duplicate, automated, incomplete, late, or fraudulent entries may be disqualified. A purchase is not required and will not improve the odds of winning.

PRIZE

One winner will receive one autographed copy of Blackthorn: An Audit featuring a unique cover hand-bound and designed by Amy Wiley. The cover design, colors, materials, and construction will be selected solely by Sponsor. The winner may provide a name for the inscription but may not request or direct the cover design. Because the prize is handmade, minor variations and imperfections are part of its unique character and are not defects.

The approximate retail value of the prize is $100 USD. No cash alternative or transfer is permitted. Sponsor may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the stated prize becomes unavailable. Standard shipping to one valid United States address is included. Sponsor expects to complete and ship the handmade prize within twelve weeks after the winner is verified and provides the requested inscription and shipping information.

ODDS AND WINNER SELECTION

The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. On or about November 2, 2026, Sponsor will randomly select one potential winner from all eligible entries.

WINNER NOTIFICATION

The potential winner will be notified using the email address associated with the entry and must respond within five calendar days. Sponsor may request confirmation of eligibility, acceptance of the prize, an eligible United States shipping address, and the desired inscription name. If the potential winner does not respond on time, cannot be verified, declines the prize, or is otherwise ineligible, Sponsor may select an alternate winner by random drawing.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

Sponsor’s decisions regarding eligibility, administration, and winner selection are final. Sponsor may cancel, suspend, modify, or extend the giveaway if fraud, technical failure, human error, or another event beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control compromises its integrity or proper operation. If feasible, Sponsor will select the winner from eligible entries received before the interruption.

Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, misdirected, corrupted, or undeliverable entries or notifications; internet, email, website, or equipment failures; or inaccurate entry information. Entrants are responsible for providing a working email address and monitoring it for notification. The winner is responsible for any taxes associated with accepting the prize.

To the extent permitted by law, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor and its representatives from claims arising from participation in the giveaway or acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of the prize, except where prohibited by law.

PRIVACY

Information submitted through the Circular form will be handled according to the Briar Gate Press Privacy Policy and used to deliver the newsletter and administer the giveaway. Information submitted through the alternate entry method will be used to administer the giveaway and will not be added to the marketing list without separate consent. The winner may be publicly identified by first name, last initial, and state of residence.

SOCIAL MEDIA DISCLAIMER

This giveaway is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, X, YouTube, or any other social platform. Entrants release those platforms from responsibility for the giveaway.

Questions about the giveaway or requests for the winner’s first name, last initial, and state may be sent to amy@briargatepress.com within sixty days after the drawing. The paperwork is public. What is hiding inside the files is not.
